Riding the rides at the County Fair!

Allegheny County Fair - 4-H exhibits

Mary and I enjoyed the Allegheny County Fair last weekend.  The exhibits were interesting and fun to explore.  Mary loved the 4-H livestock.  It was very impressive to see how well the kids took care of their animals.

Quilts Finished!

This summer has been too crazy.  Charlie Cat is still not back to his old self.  I don't think he ever will be.  It's very sad to see his personality change.  Hopefully once school starts and our routine is reestablished things will get better.

One the bright side... Mary's quilts are finished.  It was a fun and easy project.  A bit more time consuming than anticipated.  The quilts turned out perfect for the bunk beds and Mary's bed room.

Mary and I started this project on July 1st.  The beds are done!  The quilts are almost done.  I plan to machine quilt them at Helen Taylor's house in about a week.  Its been a fabulous project to work on with Mary this summer.  She has helped every step of the way from sanding, to painting.  ; )

Trip to Virginia

Mary and I left for Suffolk, Virginia on July 6th.  We had a wonderful busy week.  We were able to spend time with loved ones and finish Kate's duvet cover.  Wednesday morning we met with Claire, Grace, Sam and Max and the pottery shop.  The kids had a fun time paint and creating individual pieces of art.  Kate arrived from Raleigh on Wednesday night.  Thursday, Kate gave Mary private swimming lessons.  Mary is doing extremely well and Kate is a wonderful teacher.... tough but good.  Thursday night Kate, Mary and I had dinner with the McCrarys.  Dinner was very yummy.  Mary spent the night in order to have more time with her cousins.  On Friday, we finished our project.  Kate had to leave for home around 4pm.  Mary and I left in the morning and arrived tired but happy around 4:15.  Saturday was a long day.

Happy Independence Day!

Mary and I participated in the Kiwanis Club 21st annual independence 5K run.  We registered at 7 am this morning for the walk.  Geno came along and was a good sport.  He made many friends.  Mary ran in the Fire Cracker 1/4 mile run.  She came in 4th place in her age group with a time of 1:52.  Geno is now sleeping.

Bunk Bed project started!

Mary and I have begun working on the bunk beds.  We are sanding them today and hope to paint them on Friday.  In addition, we are working on matching quilts for the beds.  It is going to be adorable when finished.

Fabric needed!

If you live near a Joann Fabrics please search for this fabric.  Mary wants it for the back of her new quilt that I am making for her bunk beds.  I need a total of at least 6 yards.  However, I need to piece the back and 3 yards would be helpful.  Please check your local stores!

New Sneakers for Miss Mary

Anna loves converse sneakers and as a result so does Mary.  We found these on sale 50% off at Sears.  We just had to buy them.  Mary is waiting until school starts to wear them.  Aren't they adorable?
